At a glance
| Question | Our practice |
|---|---|
| Do you connect to a child’s bank account? | No. The family’s money records are entered in the app. |
| Do you share a child’s balance, chores, or activity with banks or other financial institutions? | No. We do not provide those records to banks, lenders, credit bureaus, or investment firms for their products, marketing, or decisions. |
| Do you sell personal information or use children’s data for targeted advertising? | No. |
| Who can see a child’s activity? | The child and the authorized adults in that family, subject to their account access. Our limited authorized personnel and service providers may access information when needed to operate, secure, and support the Services. |
| Are subscription payments different? | Yes. A payment processor handles the Family Organizer’s subscription payment and returns billing status to us. It does not receive the child’s piggy bank ledger as part of subscription billing. |
Information we collect
Adults and family accounts. We collect the name, email address, sign-in information, family membership and role, invitation details, support requests, preferences, and account settings you provide. If you choose Google sign in, we receive the basic account information made available through that sign-in flow, such as your name, email address, and account identifier. We do not receive your Google password.
Children and family activity. A parent or guardian sets up a child’s profile and access. A child user ID is created as part of that profile setup. We collect the child’s name or chosen display name, account identifier, child user ID and password authentication information, theme preferences, and the information the family enters or generates through the app: starting balance entries, money added or spent, notes or categories, savings goals and progress, chores and claims, and related activity history. We also record sign-in attempts and other information needed to protect a child’s account. Please avoid putting sensitive details in free-text notes.
Subscriptions. We receive subscription plan, trial, payment status, billing period, transaction identifiers, and related records from our payment processor. The processor collects and handles payment credentials through its own checkout or billing interface. We do not need a child’s banking details to operate MyPiggy.
Technical and support information. We may collect IP address, browser and device information, session and security logs, diagnostic events, and communications you send to support. If you use a chat feature on our public website, the chat provider receives the information you type and technical data needed to provide that feature. Do not enter a child’s password, payment card number, or sensitive family details in the website chat.
Website analytics, chat, and contact forms
Our public marketing website uses Google Analytics to understand visits and page activity. Google may receive technical and usage information, such as device or browser details and the pages visited, through its tag. Our public website also uses the Noform.ai chat widget; that provider receives chat messages and technical information needed to operate it. If you use our website contact form, the form delivery provider processes the information you submit so we can receive your request. These website tools are separate from a child’s piggy bank ledger, and we do not intentionally send a child’s in-app money records to website analytics or chat providers. Please do not enter a child’s password, private money records, or payment card details into the chat or contact form.
Cookies and similar browser technologies may be used by the website tools and to keep adult accounts signed in. Your browser settings can limit some cookies; doing so may affect features that require sign-in.
How we use information
We use information to create and protect accounts; let families record and view piggy bank activity; manage goals, chores, invitations, roles, and access; process subscriptions; provide support; detect abuse and troubleshoot errors; and comply with applicable obligations. We also use family activity to create the weekly or monthly email digests an adult chooses to receive, and to send essential account, trial, payment, access, and scheduled deletion notices. If an enabled digest uses an AI summary service, relevant activity may be processed by a service provider to produce that summary. We do not use a child’s activity to advertise financial products.
When information is shared
We share information only as needed for the following purposes:
- Within your family: authorized Family Organizers and guardians can view and manage family information and children’s activity. A child can access their own app experience. Invitation recipients receive the information needed to join a family.
- Service providers: hosting, authentication, database, email delivery, payment processing, security, customer support, and, when enabled, summary generation providers process information to perform services for us. They receive information relevant to their function.
- Legal and safety needs: we may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the Services, or others.
- Business changes: if ownership of the Services changes, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy and applicable law.
We do not share children’s piggy bank balances, transaction entries, savings goals, or chore records with financial institutions for banking, lending, investing, credit reporting, joint marketing, or sale of financial products. Subscription payment processing is a separate transaction between the adult subscriber and the payment processor. We do not sell children’s personal information.
Children’s privacy and parental control
MyPiggy is designed for family use. An adult creates the family and child profile and controls invitations and account access. Children sign in with a user ID created when a parent sets up their profile and a password, rather than creating an independent adult account. Parents can reset a child’s password. We limit children’s information to what supports the app experience and security, and do not show children third-party advertising.
Parents or legal guardians can review and correct a child’s profile and activity through the app, manage the child’s access, or contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of a child’s information. A Family Organizer can request family deletion in the app. We may need to verify the request and retain limited information where legally required or necessary for security, billing records, or dispute resolution.
For children under 13, parents can contact us to review the information associated with their child, request deletion, or withdraw permission for further collection or use. We may verify that the requester is the child’s parent or legal guardian. Email contact@mypiggyapp.com for these requests.
Your choices
Adults can update their profile and family information, manage child access, and choose weekly or monthly activity digest preferences in the app. Essential account and security notices may still be sent even if a digest is turned off. You can request information about your account or seek correction or deletion by contacting us. Applicable law may provide additional rights; we will respond after verifying your identity and relationship to the family.
Where information is stored
MyPiggy uses hosting and database providers to operate the Services. We do not claim that information stays only in New York or only in the United States; service-provider systems and authorized support may process information in other locations. Contact us if you have a question about where a particular category of information is processed.
Retention and security
We retain information while the family account is active and for the periods needed to provide the Services, resolve issues, maintain security, meet legal or accounting requirements, and complete deletion requests. After access ends, family records can enter Read-Only status before a scheduled purge. A family deletion request can also start a Read-Only period and scheduled purge. Limited billing, audit, security, or backup records may remain longer where necessary. We use access controls and other reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep parent and child passwords private.
Security incidents
If we learn of a security incident affecting personal information, we will investigate, take appropriate steps to contain it, and provide notice when applicable law requires. No online service can promise absolute security.
Other services and changes
Google sign in, subscription checkout, and the public website chat may be governed by those providers’ own privacy notices. Links to other sites are subject to their operators’ practices. We may update this Policy when our features or practices change. We will post the revised date and provide additional notice when appropriate.
